GALLERY RIVAA JAZZ SALON
In 2010 , i began inviting musician friends to come and perform for the community at Gallery RIVAA..I had just started learning how to play jazz guitar..and I look back in pain!..the first session was part of a talk Idid about the film was working on, so it seemed to make sense to play jazz in addition to talking about it..soon we were asked to do regular sessions on the First Sunday of the month and the Jazz Salon was born..We didnt have a name for the band , so I named it Art & the Impressionists, (after all in an art gallery) and then sometimes Metrocard Unlimited, the Unholy Cats, the Unaltered Facts, and so on.. This became an iconic event and we started hosting other musical events, including the first RI jazz and World Music Festival! (see Posters) and also the volunteer sessions at the Senior Center. Thanks to all the musician friends who have made this happen !
